Acme Widgets, headquartered in North Dakota, is a leading provider of high-quality widgets and widget-related solutions. Our core business revolves around designing, manufacturing, and distributing widgets to meet the diverse needs of our B2B clients and D2C customers in North America, Europe, and soon, Latin America.

Please describe your company’s business pain points, technical challenges, and goals that led you to evaluate and select Adobe applications over other solutions.* (200 words)

The legacy experience for Acme’s customers is both physical and somewhat digital—regional showrooms for in-person ordering, purchasing, and pick-up, while online ordering allowed D2C customers to ship to any location or showroom pickup (BOPIS). We only had limited digital options for B2B customers.

Acme wanted to unify data from multiple systems and sources—including engagement data—and across internal brands to create a complete view of each customer that marketers could leverage for existing DMP use cases while unlocking the potential for more targeted 1:1 omnichannel personalization. Further, we needed a system that could support both D2C and B2B customers from a single source.

The pain points were around ID stitching, cross-brand profile building, cross-channel marketing, sophisticated segmentation, and data latency. Sometimes it could take up to two weeks to stitch a customer’s purchasing data to their profile, which diminished the relevancy and timeliness of our established messaging.

Marketers were also frustrated with Salesforce DMP, which had reached end-of-life and had to be replaced. Salesforce CDP didn’t align with our business goals and future growth plans.

Adobe Real-Time CDP was selected to replace Salesforce DMP and to scale the personalization initiatives for the business across brands.

How have you brought digital strategy and internal operations into alignment to better attract, engage, and retain customers using Adobe solutions?* (200 words)

Five teams across the company collaborated to develop our new customer experience platform and are now a unified team with the common goal to optimize and further enhance the customer experience across all online touchpoints.

1. Created a unified profile across 3 brands and 10 identifiers (including brand-specific derived identifiers).

2. Created a Single Customer View combining data from 3 websites, 2 mobile apps, 3 Salesforce applications, and other non-Adobe data sources like Snowflake.

3. Built capability for cross-channel activation across Paid (DV360, GCM, FB, TTD, Pinterest, Snapchat), Outbound (SFMC), and other destinations like data lake and BI tool.

4. Implemented custom solutions were needed to achieve specific business objectives like filtering data before loading into profiles, creating brand-specific CRM Ids, creating A/B segments, and supporting both digital and online journeys.

5. Developed B2B marketing channels and digital experiences using Marketo and Commerce.

Within 12 months of implementation, Acme realized a dramatic improvement in customer engagement and overall increase in D2C marketing efficiency, resulting in:

+200% email open to purchase rate
+25% online revenue growth in a new product category - silent disco headphone rental
+8% in-store revenue growth
10% drop in marketing costs due to ability to bring more work in-house

Did you replace any existing technology with Adobe Experience Cloud solutions? If so, what was the benefit of moving to Adobe*?

Adobe AEP replaced Salesforce DMP and now enables us to collect and standardize more data from across more channels in real time. We have had an excellent experience with Adobe solutions, and specifically with Adobe Customer Journey Analytics. It’s very easy to integrate and use. Adobe provides user-friendly dashboards where anyone can easily check the data and create reports.
